Today was to be the beginning of Cycle 3 of my cancer treatment. My body had other ideas.
I’m the middle of the night, we called the on-call fellow at Hutch Cancer Center and confirmed we were having a “Go Directy to the Hospital. Do Not Pass GO.” event. I had (have) excruciating chest pain and shortness of breath. Jackie and I made our way to Providence St. Pete’s in Olympia. Turns out I have a pulmonary embolism. Doc says it’s not life threatening (yay!) and should resolve in a few days with blood thinner meds. They expect I can go home in a couple of days.
Ina was already planning to come later this week to be with Jackie and me for support and loving time. She is arriving tomorrow instead.
We’ve had a course detour. This development is not uncommon for cancer patients. Once we are out of the woods on this, we’ll reconnect with the Hutch Cancer team and determine the next steps.
This would be another great time for concentrated loving thoughts, sparkles, prayers, meditations, chants or whatever is how you pause for a moment for an across-the-miles connection. I’m being upbeat and cheery, but this is a scary development, expected or not.
The nurse gave me this sweet pillow to help brace my chest against the pain. I think of each of you as I hold it tight.
Appreciating your beautifully-written, honest, inspirational and detailed updates. Thank you. 🌹❤️ Sending you & Jackie ongoing ✨️sparkles✨️, positive energy, courage & love for the steps ahead. Good to hear Ina is there to help & offer additional caring support. Hugs, Susan
Pulmonary What Now?! Geez Louise the body is putting up a tremendous fight. No climbing on ladders while you’re on blood thinners, okay? Very happy to hear Ina has landed and helping out Jackie. Love & smooches, J&A
